World Day of Prayer 2026
Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer on March 6, 2026. We are filled with great joy to invite you to the 99th World Day of Prayer service, prepared this year by the women of Nigeria. Located on the west coast of Africa, Nigeria is a vibrant nation of more than 250 ethnic groups, rich in cultural, historical, and geographical diversity. The 2026 theme is based on Matthew 11:28-30, “I Will Give You Rest: Come.” At a time when many people around the world are weighed down by many burdens, our Nigerian sisters offer profound insights into finding true rest in God.
On the first Fiday in March the Day of Prayer begins on the international dateline, in Samoa. Early in the morning, Christian women begin praying for our world. As the earth rotates, a great wave of prayer begins to build. It sweeps across the Pacific, touching Fiji and New Zealand, rolling on through Asia: Japan, the Philippines, Korea, and Bangladesh. The countries of Africa, and the Middle East are next. The wave reaches the shores of Europe as the day dawns there. Across the Atlantic it moves onwards, the Caribbean, the Americas, and on to the Pacific again until the sun finally sets over American Samoa where the final service takes place. A worldwide circle of prayer is complete.
In getting ready for World Day of Prayer, Bible Study on the theme will be at 1:30 on Friday, February 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 506 Main St. in Minong.
This year’s service will be held on Friday, March 6 at 1:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with a time of fellowship and a taste of Nigeria following worship. Participants from churches in Solon Springs, Gordon and Minong will present the service. People from all faith communities are invited.
