Evangelization & Missionary discipleship

What is the mission of the Church?  To make disciples.

"Then Jesus approached and said to them, 'All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.'" (Matthew 28: 18-20)

From Our Evangelization Teams Leader

As Jesus tells his first disciples, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  We are also called to be fishers of men.  In following Jesus’ example, yes, he preached to large groups, but he spent the most of his time investing in his small group of disciples.  Imagine if we did the same.  Say if you invested in developing deep personal relations with three people who have a desire to know Jesus.  That would be 4 people.  If those 3 people invested in 3 people each, we’d have 12 people.  In 7 cycles, that number would reach nearly 1,000 people, and after 13 cycles, nearly 500,000.  At this rate, the entire world could be reached in 22 cycles.  Although this example is mathematical, it illustrates the impact that one person can have.

The Diocese of Superior is hosting a workshop to build our personal evangelization muscle:

·      The workshop will be focused on “Giving one’s testimony and praying with others”

·      It will be on April 18 from 9am – 2pm at St. Joseph in Rice Lake

·      Everyone is welcome to attend.  Please call the office to register.

Along with personal evangelization, we wanted to provide an opportunity where you can not only grow in your own faith, but also have an activity at church to bring your friends regardless of their faith background.  Starting on Wednesday, May 13, we will have a weekly viewing of The Chosen (with popcorn) at St. Mary's, followed by group discussion and an opportunity for adoration.  We will be starting with Season 1 of The Chosen.  We hope that you will all join us and bring your friends!

Parish Discipleship Pathway

Parish Evangelization Teams

Parish Evangelization Teams are part of the Diocese of Superior's evangelization initiative called Maintenance to Mission. The teams will guide our parishes through the parish discipleship pathway. St. Anthony, St. Mary's, and St. Pius X each have their own Evangelization Team. Team members meet periodically and are invited to Diocesan workshops. Let us know if you would like to join your parish team.

Parish Feedback

Parish Evangelization Teams evaluate what activities and programs are offered within the parish and parish cluster and what is offered in the future. Specifically, what activities and programs will help in our mission to spread the Good News and our parish cluster to grow and thrive. Through this process, we would like to hear from everyone - full-time and seasonal parishioners as well as our summer visitors. Please take a moment to complete form if you have not already.
