The Holy Year of St. Francis of Assisi is a special Jubilee Year proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, from January 10, 2026 - January 10, 2027. It marks the 8th centenary of his death. It is a time for Catholics and all who seek meaning to rediscover and live out St. Francis's message of peace, fraternity, reconciliation, and radical love.
The theme of the Jubilee is "Saint Francis Lives On", inviting believers to reflect on Francis's life as a model of humility, service, and encounter with God. It is not limited to the Franciscan family but is open to all, as Francis's appeal transcends denominational boundaries.
At the center of the Jubilee is the Porzuincola, a small chapel in Assisi where St. Francis discerned his vocation, founded the Order of Friars Minor, and gave the Church the "Pardon of Assisi" - a sign of God's boundless mercy.
