The Church is the Body of Christ. Through the Spirit and his action in the sacraments, above all the Eucharist, Christ, who once was dead and is now risen, establishes the community of believers as his own Body. In the unity of this Body there is a diversity of members and functions. All members are linked to one another, especially to those who are suffering, to the poor and persecuted (Catechism of the Catholic Church nos. 805-806).

LAY ECCLESIAL MINISTRY
Lay Leaders of Prayer
Our tri-parish is fortunate to have certified Lay Ministers of Prayer. "In the absence of both a priest and a deacon, upon the request and recommendation of the pastor, the bishop is to appoint persons, lay or religious, who are to be entrusted with the care of leading celebrations, namely, with leading the prayers, with the ministry of the word, and when it is to be included in the celebration with giving holy communion.
LITURGICAL
Altar Servers
Altar servers are lay assistants who support the priest during Mass. They perform vital tasks such as carrying the cross and candles, holding prayer books, assisting with the gifts of bread and wine, managing incense, and ringing bells. This is all done with reverence to help focus on the sacred liturgy, with servers typically requiring First Communion, proper training, and a devout attitude to serve
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Ensure Holy Communion can be distributed in an orderly and reverent manner.
If ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are not present, "the priest may call upon extraordinary Ministers to assist him, i.e., duly instituted acolytes or even other faithful who have been deputed for this purpose. In case of necessity, the priest may also depute suitable faithful for this single occasion (GIRM 162)."
Music Ministry
Music enhances worship through song, uniting musicians and singers (choirs, cantors, instrumentalists) to glorify God, support liturgy, and engage the congregation with diverse music, from traditional hymns and chants to contemporary praise, focusing on prayer and participation rather than performance. Ministries involve various groups like adult choirs and children's choirs all aimed at fostering a deeper spiritual connection during Mass and special celebrations
Readers
According to the ancient tradition and the teaching of the Church, the readings other than the Gospel are proclaimed by lectors or lay ministers called readers. Readers are those member of the laity who proclaim the scriptures in the liturgy.
Sacristan
Sacristans are an essential and dedicated volunteer or staff member responsible for preparing the church for Mass and other liturgical events, acting as the "caretaker of the sacred" by organizing vestments, vessels, linens, and ensuring the sacristy and sanctuary are ready, allowing priests to focus on worship. They handle tasks like setting out the bread and wine, polishing sacred vessels, changing altar cloths, and generally maintaining sacred furnishings, working with quiet devotion behind the scenes to ensure reverence and order. They are often the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Ushers and Greeters
Ushers and Greeters, commonly called Ministers of Hospitality, are most effective when they represent the entire community. In the name of Christ and the Church, they are the first to welcome visitors to the community and they are the people entrusted with making everyone feel at home. They assist with seating, managing collections, bulletins, and helping those with special needs. They provide a smooth, dignified experience while maintaining reverence and discreet service during Mass.
